So tempted, in fact, that I've just bought one off eBay.... Im tempted to, ive been using Windows Mobile for years since the very first SPV and the iPhone 3G 16gb looks seriously tempting. Im looking out for one on eBay at the moment. They are going for silly money!!!! You gonna unlock it / jailbreak it / or turbo sim it? or just use it on o2? -------------------- Tom

I paid £276 inc P&P for an 8Gb - It should arrive tomorrow.
I have a 'turbo sim' (it wasn't called that when I bought it for £2.76) and hope to use my T-Mob SIM with W'n'W Plus in it but will jailbreak it. I'll let you know how I get on! -------------------- He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

All that space! Keep this thread updated with how the Turbo sim works and how reliable it is, if you dont mind. Id be very interested. Thanks for the links |

For data though, Settings - General - Network - Cellular Data and then put in the T-Mobile settings (I don't know what they are off the top of my head) -------------------- ![]() |

I'd already done that - tried both usernames and passwords. I'm sad enough to remember them...

The general concensus seems to be that the turbo sim does NOT work in the 3G iPhone.
I certainly can't recomend it! But I can recomend the iPhone. I am posting this from my iPhone via wifi which just worked. My push email works and gives me HTML email from Exchange 2003 which WM doesn't and Safari on the iPhone is brilliant. If I could get my SIM working and get CoPilot working on the iPhone I could really get to like it! |

Thanks for posting your findings on here, im wondering whether to go for a proper apple unlocked iPhone (extortionate prices tho!) or whether to risk the turbo sim method. The new Turbo Sims are supposed to work with the iPhone. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Unlock-3G-iPhone-3G-...id=p3286.c0.m14 See info above, ive also looked on a few of the websites direct and they all seem to make a big fuss about the sim now working with the iPhone 3G and "no loss of signal" etc. etc. I dont want to software hack unlock my phone and then not be able to update the firmware when the latest version is released. Mmm! This place looks very convincing http://www.any-network.com/ but the price of the unlock sim card is pretty expensive! Good luck getting it all to work, i know what you mean, been using my mates iphone at work, very slick, and does what i want, so far most of the little bug bears are all things that the app store sorts out. Altho when someone like tomtom brings out turn by turn navigation for the iPhone thats when i will be 100% happy! This post has been edited by Tomchap: Oct 9 2008, 08:48 |

I've just ordered the TurboSIM off eBay - I'll let you know how I get on! So will post my findings on here when and if i win one! Good luck mate! |

Well im finally in possession of an iPhone, waited and got a 16gb. Looks good. Gotta wait to activate through iTunes so will see how that goes. Ordered a Gevey-3G sim card to unlock the phone so will give it a go on my lunch break.
As far as im aware i need to activate it through iTunes using an O2 sim card, which should activate the phone, then I swap the sims over along with putting in the Gevey-3G unlock sim to make my loverly t-mobile sim work. Fingers crossed that I wont be swearing later on and that everything works ok! |

Good luck with it - my card will be here in the next week but in the mean time I have an O2 PAYG SIM. I was using iTunes with my T-Mobile SIM ut the phone went to 'No Network' after 2 hours so you might not need an O2 SIM.

Thanks for that, popping home at lunch to give it a go, so will try without an O2 sim first and see if it activates through itunes first. Will post the findings here. Good luck mate! Also how are you finding your iPhone 3G? you missing Windows Mobile much? This post has been edited by Tomchap: Oct 17 2008, 11:25 |

I found that I had to use my iPhone 3g 16gb with an o2 sim to activate on iTunes. Also if im syncing with iTunes i also have to have the o2 sim in, which is a bit annoying, but using the Gevey-3G unlock sim from ebay, item no 330279968338 and it works great, no dropped signal, 3G reception supported and doesnt void the warranty on my iPhone, so happy with that.
So far apart from annoyingly having to do the above swapping sim everytime I want to sync with iTunes, im loving the iPhone so far. Quality! This post has been edited by Tomchap: Oct 20 2008, 07:52 |

Just got my TurboSim and all seems to be working OK. I've heard reports that these adapters work for a while (upto 7 days) then stop working so we'll have to compare notes in a weeks time!
Have you jailbroke yours yet? |

Have you jailbroke yours yet? Yeah certainly will do, i ordered another unlock sim from someone else to make sure that I got one for the weekend, so if it does fail I will contact the seller and ask about a replacement or refund. Was tempted to software unlock it as i have v2.1 firmware installed and its working well. Regards to jailbreaking Ive been looking at this as there are alot of apps that look very tempting to install but dont wanna risk bricking my iPhone. Found this aticle here How to Jailbreak iphone 3G with details of how to jailbreak it and it does seem pretty straightforward, will see how i get on and if i really miss no video recorder, mms messaging and the various other features that are available when using a jailbroken phone I may well have a go! |

There is no software unlocking available for the 3G iPhone - yet!
Jailbreaking is easy and I did it without a problem. Have you tried GPS? Mine worked fine on O2 but doesn't seem to work on T-Mobile. |
